Listed below is a summary of settings that you will need to be familiar with when establishing your mail client settings:

Once you have reviewed the settings below, please refer to the screen captures of sample mobile mail clients here, as we hope these will allow you to more-easily configure your mobile mail clients:

With regard to desktop mail, we are providing screen captures and specific details for Mozilla's Thunderbird, with the expectation that the same entries should apply to any other desktop mail client.

General Mail Server Settings

Mail server name - this refers to both incoming and outgoing mail server.

Each of the following mail server names have SSL certificates assigned to them, thus fully supporting secure mail.

Please refer to the Hosting Details PDF document that you were provided, and confirm the Plesk Hosting Control Panel URL in order to verify which server your account is hosted upon.
Plesk Hosting Control Panel | Mail Server Name
https://cp1.greybeardhosting.com | mail1.greybeardhosting.com
https://cp2.greybeardhosting.com | mail2.greybeardhosting.com
https://cp3.greybeardhosting.com | mail3.greybeardhosting.com

Supported Incoming Security Methods:
  • SSL/TLS
  • STARTTLS
Supported Incoming Ports:
  • For POP: 995
  • For IMAP: 993
IMPORTANT - PLEASE NOTE:
For desktop mail clients, POP connections are preferred because this method is intended to download your mail to your desktop, and allows you to remove the mail from the server. That reduces overall disk space for your account. IMAP leaves the mail on the server, thus contributing to the amount of disk space used against your quota.

For your mobile (phone/tablet) mail settings, assuming you also download mail to a desktop/laptop computer, either POP or IMAP is probably fine.

Supported Incoming Password Authentication Methods for POP:
  • Normal Password
  • Encrypted Password
Supported Incoming Password Authentication Methods for IMAP:
  • Plain
  • CRAM_MD5

Supported Outgoing Security Methods:
  • SSL/TLS (if you choose this option, whether you get SSL or TLS will be determined by which port you select below.)
  • STARTTLS (this is essentially TLS so use port 587 in this case.)
Supported Outgoing Ports:
  • TLS: 587
  • SSL: 465
Supported Outgoing Password Authentication Methods for POP:
  • Normal Password
  • Encrypted Password
Note: Selecting Encrypted is optional, and not required for a secure connection.
Supported Outgoing Password Authentication Methods for IMAP:
  • Automatic
  • CRAM_MD5
Note: Selecting CRAM_MD5 is optional, and not required for a secure connection.
SMTP Authentication:
  • Required, using incoming password
