Here we have an iPhone configured for IMAP. These screen captures were taken from an iPhone 7 Plus.

Detailed setup instructions for iPhone, iPad, etc. are at this link.

INCOMING SERVER SETTINGS

In the screen capture below we have the "Incoming Mail Server" panel.

The only element heres that we need to focus on is that

  • Your name and full e-mail address needs to be provided in the first section. Add a description as you see fit.

  • Host name must match the mail server associated with the server on which your site is hosted.

  • The full e-mail address and password needs to be provided for User Name and Password.

  • Security settings will be addressed below on the "Advanced" settings tab.

SMTP SERVER NAMES

Here we have the "SMTP Server Names" panel. One reaches this panel after touching the row labeled "SMTP" in the image above.

This image is provided simply to illustrate that the panel appears as mentioned above. Depending upon how many mail accounts one is managing via their iPhone, there could be one or more server names here. Click on the server name associated with your greybeardhosting.com-based account.

OUTGOING SERVER SETTINGS

Here we have the "Outgoing Server Settings" panel. One reaches this panel after touching the row below "PRIMARY SERVER" in the image above. In some cases, the "greybeardhosting" server could be lised in the "OTHER SMTP SERVERS" section. In such a case, that may be where one might have clicked to get to the current "Outgoing Server Settings" panel.

We arrive at this panel after touching the row adjacent to the title "SMTP".
  • Host Name must match the entry from the INCOMING Host Name listed above.

  • The full e-mail address and password needs to be provided for User Name and Password.

  • The "Use SSL" button should be active.

  • Authentication should be MD5 Challenge-Request

  • Server Port should be 587 for TLS connections, 465 for SSL connections.

ADVANCED SETTINGS

Here we have the "Advanced settings" panel.

We arrive at this panel after touching "ADVANCED" in the first screen above. Of particular concern here is the section titled "INCOMING SETTINGS".
  • The "Use SSL" button should be active.

  • Authentication should be MD5 Challenge-Request

  • Server Port should be 993 for IMAP, 995 for POP.

POP SETTINGS

Here is the same E-mail account established as a POP account. Interestingly, the setup is virtually identical to IMAP settings with the exception that when establising the account, one selects POP3 instead of IMAP. The rest of the process appears to reveal no other differences.
